A 15th-century château built in the riverbed

Montsoreau's château dates from around 1455 and is the only Loire château built directly on the river's bed; it now houses a contemporary art museum. Cut into the tuffeau hillside above the village, Le Saut aux Loups is a working mushroom farm in old quarry galleries, open to visitors, with a restaurant serving stuffed galipettes on a terrace overlooking the river. The Loire à Vélo route runs through the village, with a 14 km signed path to Saumur that passes through five Saumur-Champigny wine villages along the way.
